The Daily Mail has brought Manchester United fans to a standstill here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that David De Gea’s long-term future may not belong at Old Trafford.
In the clearest indication that something may well be amiss with the Spanish international goalkeeper and his long-term future at Manchester United, De Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes made it very clear that in football, anything can happen.
Mendes was speaking to the almighty Spanish publication Marca and claimed: “David is amazing, he’s brilliant.
“He’s a Man United player and has a contract there. You have to respect that but things change every five minutes.”
Now as one of our punters notes, not only is it in Mendes’ interests to secure either a huge new contract from Manchester Untied for De Gea or alternatively a transfer, we cannot forget the fact that Marca is a mouthpiece for Real Madrid and often aids them in their pursuit of sought-after talents.
Given it would not be the first big money move that Mendes has negotiated from United to Real Madrid, we think this could well get rather interesting before the season is out.
