Manchester United are preparing for life after Casemiro, with the veteran midfielder set to depart when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Brazilian, who arrived from Real Madrid in a £70 million deal in 2022, has made over 150 appearances and enjoyed a resurgence this campaign despite public criticism from club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe last year.
Reflecting on his upcoming exit, Casemiro admitted in January: “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life… It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.”
With his departure confirmed, attention has now turned to identifying a long-term replacement in midfield.
Man Utd Monitoring Tchouameni
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United are closely tracking Aurélien Tchouaméni as a potential successor to Casemiro this summer.
The Real Madrid midfielder — once described as “incredible” by former manager Zinedine Zidane — is seen as a leading candidate to fill the No.6 role at Old Trafford. At 26, he is entering his peak years and is expected to play a major role for France on the international stage.
However, any move will depend heavily on Real Madrid’s own transfer plans. Club president Florentino Pérez is believed to be a long-time admirer of Rodri, and a potential move for the Manchester City midfielder could trigger changes in Madrid’s squad.
Should Los Blancos look to reshape their midfield — with Eduardo Camavinga also mentioned as a possible sale — it may open a window of opportunity for United to make their move.
Replacing Casemiro was never going to be straightforward, but Tchouaméni represents exactly the kind of statement signing United need. The real question is timing — if Madrid reshuffle, United must be ready to strike instantly.
Miss that window, and a perfect successor could slip through their fingers.
