Manchester United may already have a crowded attacking department, but that hasn’t stopped the club from reassessing their options ahead of the summer window.
A number of forwards have made encouraging impressions this season, particularly last year’s arrivals, who have added pace, variety and a more direct edge in the final third.
At the same time, several players currently out on loan have rebuilt their reputations elsewhere. After inconsistent spells at Old Trafford, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho have all found form away from the spotlight, complicating decisions over their long-term futures.
With those loanees now expected to move on permanently, United are preparing to reshape their attack once again. And it appears their focus has turned toward one of Europe’s most explosive wide players.
Man United Exploring Leao Move
Manchester United are looking into a potential deal for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao as they consider adding more firepower out wide, according to the Mail Online.
The Portugal international, described as “unstoppable” by former AC Milan teammate Tammy Abraham, has attracted attention from several elite clubs across Europe.
Leao has continued to enhance his reputation with another strong season in Serie A, contributing goals and consistently stretching defences with his pace and direct style. Despite his individual performances, frustration has grown at club level, with Milan falling short in the title race against rivals Inter.
That situation has opened the door to a possible departure. Milan are believed to be willing to listen to offers for key players as they look to rebalance their finances, and Leao could be available for a fee in the region of £60 million — a figure many top sides see as competitive given his profile and experience.
Interest is not limited to United, with other Premier League clubs as well as Real Madrid also monitoring developments. Any potential move may need to be resolved quickly, particularly with the upcoming World Cup likely to influence both demand and valuation.
Despite speculation, there are no indications of a breakdown in Leao’s relationship with Milan’s coaching staff. However, with just two years remaining on his contract by the summer, this represents a natural point for all parties to reassess the situation.
United are understood to be keen on strengthening in wide areas, although their transfer budget will depend heavily on whether they secure Champions League qualification. Even so, Leao’s profile fits the type of dynamic attacker they appear to be targeting.
