There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by Inside Futbol that Monaco are considering launching a swoop for Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany.
The defender may not have hit the heights he achieved last season at the club when they won the title when he was quite simply the best centre back in the league, if not in Europe, but he is still highly thought of at the club and an approach for the Belgium international will not go down well with Roberto Mancini.
Monaco of course are hardly short of money these days and it is that fact which allows them to even consider making swoops for players such as the Manchester City skipper. The defender has clashed with manager Roberto Mancini on more than one occasion this season which has fuelled rumours of a move yet Kompany for his part looks set to reject the offer of a move and is focused on staying in Manchester and helping the club win back the Premier League title, especially now that Sir Alex Ferguson has left Manchester United.
