Manchester United fans are looking up with hope on their faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro seem to think that the Red Devils are about to sign an £18.4 million rated midfielder.
The man responsible for the excitement in the tavern is Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan who has reportedly asked for a summer switch away from the struggling Bundesliga club and has his eye on Manchester United.
Now as one of our punters notes, this is a massive boost for Louis van Gaal who does not seem to be totally convinced with his midfield squad – and will think nothing of splashing less than £20 million for someone as good as Gundogan – and our regulars would not blame him in the slightest if this was the case.
