Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are given a big boost after Metro revealed that Paul Pogba’s agent squashed Real Madrid’s hopes of signing the Juventus wonderkid.
Madrid were considered as United’s biggest competitors in this transfer race.
But Pogba’s outspoken agent, Mino Raiola, has criticised their transfer policy.
Which suggests that Raiola will not allow his client to join the club.
‘Real Madrid are a club that is used to buying players like you buy a facecloth – and then throws them away like a facecloth,’ he said.
‘We don’t want to go to a club like that.
We want to go to a club that believes in Paul’s potential.’
United will now have to look to turn their attention to the next club most likely to secure Pogba’s service, Paris Saint-Germain.
And Raiola has toyed with the idea of his star client joining the Ligue 1 champions.
‘That means that they [PSG] are perhaps interested, but I will start to think that from the moment there is something concrete,’ said Raiola.
‘I just know that Paul, whichever club he’ll be at, will succeed.’
His agent is yet to make any significant comments about Pogba joining United in the run in to the summer transfer window.
But it looks as though, as things stand, PSG are favourites to sign him and maybe his agents tight lipped approach to United suggests they are not even in contention.
