Liverpool could only secure a point against Manchester United earlier on today, which will be sure to disappoint fans as they had the chance to go three points clear of Manchester City.
The Reds will have their sights set on going all the way in the current campaign, with Champions League glory also high up on their list. However, they suffered a setback on the transfer front recently, as according to A Bola (via Metro), Manchester United are keen on signing Bruno Fernandes.
Man United are set to rival Liverpool over the signature of Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes in the summer.
Indeed, the Portgual international has been simply sensational in the current campaign, having produced a whopping 21 goals and 11 assists.
Liverpool have been linked (as per Correio de Manha, via The Mirror) with a move for Fernandes, so United’s interest will come as a big blow.
THE VERDICT:
Liverpool are still searching for Philippe Coutinho’s replacement after selling him to Barcelona in January of last year, and Fernandes may just be the man to fill the void. Indeed, he operates in exactly the same position as the Brazilian and has all the ingredients to become a star in the Premier League, with goals and assists ever-present.
Although, United’s interest will obviously come as a setback for the Reds as they have the financial backing and have attracted a number of big names over the years.
