Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are buzzing after Metro revealed that Louis van Gaal is preparing a £24m bid to sign Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben.

The Dutchman knows the winger inside out after coaching him at international level and it is believed that he is confident of landing the star after building a good relationship with him in the past.

This saga has been ongoing for the last couple of years but it has come back to life, and with van Gaal in charge there is strong possibility it could materialise.

Despite United beginning to pick up points and climb up the table, they are not too convincing on the front foot and it is reported they are now monitoring the 30-year-old prior to the transfer window opening.

The Premier League side has £24m ready on standby but Bayern will unlikely be willing to sell one of their key assets but they could choose to push Manchester United into a higher fee for their ageing talent.
