Metro have Manchester United fans looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the publication claimed that Javier Hernandez is in talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential move.
The Mexican forward has been on the periphery of the first team picture at Old Trafford for some time now and as one of our punters notes, we think that if he wants to get any playing time of note next season, leaving Old Trafford is a must.
Over a pint, we discuss that the ideal place for the forward could well be the Vicente Calderon with Diego Simeone clearly a fan of the forward.
After losing both Diego Costa and David Villa this summer, we think that the opportunity is right there for Hernandez to grasp with both hands.
Simeone was asked about any potential move and claimed: “The technical department are handling it.
“Like any other player who we are interested in, Hernandez has a chance of arriving before the transfer window closes.”
Atleti have already completed the noteworthy signings of Guilherme Siqueira, Jan Oblak, Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann so far this summer.
Manchester United fans. Would you get rid of Hernandez or is he someone you think can give you a little bit of something different up top? Let us know your thoughts below.
