Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are glad the club are doing things the right way, after Metro explained how they are waiting for Ilkay Gundogan to end contract talks with Borussia Dortmund, before they make their move him.
The Red Devils are hoping that they can capitalise on the tough situation at the Westfalenstadion as they try and tempt Gundogan to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old has attracted the attention of many Premier League clubs over the past few years, but they’ve stood no chance of signing him with Dortmund being in dreamland. But with Jurgen Klopp’s side currently hovering over the relegation zone, United stand a good chance.
But they will only make a move if he fails to agree a new deal, as his contract expires at the of next season.
Dortmund will be reluctant to let him go on a free at the end of next season, whilst United are only willing to pay up to £20m for his services this summer.
