Metro certainly have our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern looking up with interest as they claim that Dani Alves will be making a decision on his future in the summer meaning a winter move is off.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian but it seems any move will be made in the summer and by then, Louis van Gaal may well have identified other targets or indeed brought someone else into the club to strengthen that leaky defence.

Alves claimed: “I’m not interested in negotiating an exit. I’m going to end my contract and then we will see.”

As one of our punters notes, given the interest in Alves from not only the Premier League but also other clubs around Europe, we think that he could well just be using this to negotiate a better deal at the Camp Nou – wanting to stay at Barcelona all along.
