With Roberto Mancini having almost incredulously declared that he still needs more midfielders, it seems as if he and Machester City have set their sights on Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets.
As if the task of being able to prise one of Barcelona’s home-grown talents away from the Catalan giants wasn’t hard enough, they also face competition from Serie A side Juventus.
As defensive midfielder Patrick Vieira retired at the end of last season, and Gareth Barry being on the wrong side of 30, it is plausible that if there is a position that could be strengthened at City, it is in the role of a holding midfielder.
As for Juventus, they saw Mohamed Sissoko leave for Paris St-Germain, and Felipe Melo move to Galatasarayon loan for the seasn, and could arguably strengthen their defensive midfield options also.
Italian media Itasportpress are repoting that Barcelona would be unwilling to sell for anything less than €35M which may price Juventus out of a move for the Spaniard, leaving City in prime position to further add to their squad of superstars, and bring Busquets to the Premier League in the January transfer window.
