Arsenal supporters have been pretty angry in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team produce a limp display to go down 3-0 to Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday.
Arsene Wenger’s men got past Doncaster Rovers, Norwich City, West Ham, and Chelsea to reach the first cup final of the season, but the Gunners were comfortably second-best against Pep Guardiola’s side to suffer defeat at the national stadium. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, and David Silva secured a comprehensive victory for the Citizens, in turn clinching their third League Cup crown in the last five years, at the same time making Wenger wait at least another year for his first title.
Thus, there have been many disappointed Arsenal fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping for better fortunes when they meet the Premier League leaders at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
However, the Gunners will have to try and get a result without defender Nacho Monreal, who has today been ruled out of the clash by manager Wenger after sustaining an ‘inflamed back’ in the final on Sunday.
The 32-year-old has arguably been one of Arsenal’s best players this season with several impressive displays either at centre-back or left-back, while he has also netted four crucial goals to help Wenger’s men just about remain in top four contention.
Yet, the Spaniard will not feature for the North London giants against Guardiola’s side on Thursday, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Arsenal supporters on Twitter.
And many were saying the same thing with regard to how Monreal sustained his back problem, namely carrying the team so far this season…
