The Watford faithful in the Tavern tonight are breathing a sigh of relief following on from their great escape out of the relegation zone last season.
Watford get quite a bit of stick from a lot of people, the landlord here in the Tavern does not have a problem with them as a club.
That will mainly be because of Deeney’s goal against Leicester in the play-off semi-final a few seasons ago.
Since that day however, Leicester have gained promotion themselves and gone on to win the Premier League title, whereas Watford have struggled in the top-flight and if something doesn’t change for them soon, then they could find themselves back in the Championship again before too long.
There are a few areas of their side that could do with being strengthened and like any other club in the top flight, Watford have a good academy full of young players wanting their chance.
With that being said, here are TWO young talents that Marco Silva should bring to the first team next season.
Will Hughes
Late last month, Watford announced the signing of Will Hughes from Derby.
There has been a lot of hype around the 22-year-old since he arrived on the scene at Derby aged just 16, and he hasn’t disappointed, being a standout performer for Derby last season, making 38 appearances in the Championship.
Hughes was also part of the England U-21 side who reached the semi-final of the European Championships in Poland proving that he has a very bright future ahead of him.
Dion Pereira
The 18-year-old won Watford’s Young Player of the Season for the 16/17 campaign that featured two first team performances for the winger, his debut against Leicester and a final day performance off the bench against Manchester City.
The versatile youngster can play on either side of the wing whether it is on the left to charge down the line and get a cross in, or his favoured right hand side where he can cut in and either cross or get a shot off.
Pereira has proven during his time with the Under-23’s side that he can be a very dangerous attacker.
