Charlton had a busy transfer window with three recruits arriving on transfer deadline day to join new loan signing Andre Green at the Valley.
Aiden McGeady, Matt Smith and David Davis all also joined the club on loan until the end of the season, but Lee Bowyer may still feel a sense of regret that he was unable to sign Marcus Maddison. The Addicks were linked with a move for the midfielder for much of the window, but he has instead joined Hull City from Peterborough on loan until the end of the current campaign.
Such a move could have disappointed supporters, but Charlton fans have displayed a different reaction after Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony revealed that Maddison rejected the south London club due to “unreasonable“(per London News Online) demands.
Charlton had agreed a £1.5m deal with Peterborough with added clauses attached to take the total fee higher, but the 26-year-old made the deal impossible for the Addicks to complete due to the finances involved. Many fans are glad the club chose not to give in to his wishes even if they do now have wealthy owners, and here is some of the reaction in response to the update issued by MacAnthony.
Well I for one am in total support of matt Southall not giving into these ridiculous demands of what essentially is a league one player #cafc

Sounds like a bullet Dodged then rich. Only want players who are here to play. By any chance did you hear of the figure was unreasonable?

When you watch the video of the owner on YouTube he said that we agreed a £1.5 million deal but what he wanted wage wise and his demands were something ridiculous

@MattSouthall84 got it right. Maddison was being unreasonable he was at a league 1 club and had the chance to play at a higher level. As far I’m concerned im glad maddison didnt come to us good riddance. His demands may have unsettled the rest of the squad.

MacAnthony also said that he was rather ‘high maintenance’ so would probably not have been a good fit in a tightly knit squad.
