It’s croissants and coffee all round in The Transfer Tavern this morning as the French hacks leak some exclusive info about Spanish International striker Daniel Güiza.
Marseille have joined Ligue 1 rivals Lyon in the chase for the Fenerbahçe ace, according to our mates at L’Equipe.
A move to l’OL remains a possibility but manager Claude Puel seems less enthusiastic about the player than Lyon’s special adviser Bernard Lacombe, with Saint-Etienne striker Bafé Gomis joining the club last night.
Güiza’s agent Vicente Montes told L’Equipe: “I can’t deny that we also have that option [Marseille]. We have spoken with them. He would form a great partnership with Morientes.”
Marseille’s manager Didier Deschamps has made an enquiry, although Güiza’s arrival would probably only happen if Brazilian striker Brandão makes way.

What seems definite is that Güiza, the Primera Liga’s top scorer in 2008, wants to leave Fenerbahçe after the departure of Luis Aragones as manager.
His adviser said: “Ever since Lyon contacted us, even if we haven’t discussed figures, the player has been keen on the move.”
Güiza’s €4 million yearly salary is not within Lyon’s reach though, says the article.
