As you can well imagine, the Transfer Tavern is absolutely packed today as punters from up and down the country watch Deadline Day unfold, ahead of a packed Premier League schedule tonight.
So, as if the prospect of a HUGE clash away at Anfield tonight wasn’t enough for the Chelsea fans propping up the bar to chew on, it seems a Stamford stalwart could soon be on his way out of the club. According to Sky Sports’ Pete Graves, Blues bastion Branislav Ivanovic is undergoing a medical in Russia ahead of a move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
The 32-year-old has been a stalwart in SW6 for nine years now, having joined from Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2008, winning all there is to win with the west London giants during his trophy-laden stint. Still, with Antonio Conte deploying a 3-4-3 formation, the Serbian defender has seen his playing time limited of late.

Out of contract at the end of the season, Ivanovic is reportedly on the verge of a return to Russian football and the Chelsea fans in the bar are casting their memories back to the good times he gave the Blues for almost a decade. While his performances have no doubt dipped in the last 18 months or so, it’s an emotional farewell for them.
