Middlesbrough consider luring Riverside favourite back to the club in January

Share

Currently four points clear of the drop zone, it’s fair to say the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy with how their first season back in the big time is going.

Aitor Karanka’s men are barely taking the league by storm, though certainly have proved competitive and do not really look like being pulled into a relegation scrap anytime soon.

So reports from the Daily Mail suggesting the club are keen on bringing a former fan favourite back to the Riverside have only added to the good feelings amongst our Teeside drinkers.

They claim Boro are willing to save Patrick Bamford from his Burnley nightmare, with parent club Chelsea reportedly ready to cancel his loan at Turf Moor following a lack of game time.

It’s been a frustrating few seasons for the 23-year-old, who has also endured poor spells on the books of Crystal Palace and Norwich City in the Premier League.

However, the Riverside was the place Bamford really made a name for himself during a stint on loan there in the 2014-15 campaign.

He 17 goals in 39 games during that season and it’s thought he could replace either Jordan Rhodes or David Nugent, who could apparently leave Middlesbrough in the coming weeks.

Would Bamford find his feet again at Boro? Let us know below…
