With Middlesbrough looking to try and establish themselves as a Premier League club, the start of that process is ensuring they maintain their status in the league. Obviously.  

So far, during their first season back, our landlord believes they need to add to their squad in order to ensure that they don’t slip into the relegation zone, as unlikely as that seems to the Teeside drinkers in the Transfer Tavern right now.

Boro have already been active in the market and brought in the likes of Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford to massively improve their attacking options, though perhaps they now should look to try and improve the rest of the team.

These players may not have been linked to Boro just yet but we feel that they should be looking to find to improve their squad and are realistic targets for the club.

With that in mind, we feel that Middlesbrough fans would be thrilled if Karanka could snap up ONE of these TWO players by Tuesday!

BOJAN KRKIC

Somehow, the former Barcelona man is not getting time at Stoke City and he’s seemingly being wasted on their bench.

Still, the Spaniard would be a perfect fit for Boro right now. He has experience in the league and he has been a suggested target for the club in weeks gone by, as they look to introduce some more attacking flair to the ranks.

The punters here in the Tavern would welcome the move in order to see Bojan back on the pitch again and playing regularly in the Premier League.

NEVEN SUBOTIC

The Borussia Dortmund defender has found himself down the pecking order for the Bundesliga side and could be clever enough to look and try to seal a winter move away from the German giants.

Linked with a move to Boro in the summer by Sky sources who also reported the collapse of the deal in the summer, perhaps a move should be rekindled.

Although it fell through then, the Serb is still not getting as much time on the pitch as he’d want and he would be a perfect fit in the heart of their defence.

Alongside the excellent Ben Gibson, a mix of youth and experience, surely the fans would be elated if he came to the Riverside.
