The Huddersfield Town fans in the Transfer Tavern have hugely enjoyed their first Premier League campaign thus far.
David Wagner’s side rode the wave of momentum picked during their run through the Championship Play-Offs all the way into their first two games of the season in the proverbial Promised Land.
Still, the loss to West Ham United on Monday night dampened the mood somewhat and reports from the Daily Mail only further annoy our resident Terriers.
They’ve revealed that midfielder Kasey Palmer could be out until JANUARY after picking up a hamstring injury while on duty with the England U21 side of late. The Chelsea loanee proved thoroughly impressive last season and is a popular figure in our bar, so it’s frustrating news for our local West Yorkshiremen.
‘Kasey came back with some problems from England Under 21s and after we made further investigations we’ve seen this is not a small problem, it’s a bigger problem”, said Wagner.
‘The injury he had last January, the tendons in his hamstrings, the injury is more or less as big as it was before, so we expect he’ll be out for a longer period.
‘Now we have to make further investigations, but he will be out for a few months.’
Prior to the loss in East London at the start of the week, Palmer had been a mixture in Wagner’s midfield, though looks as if he’ll return to Chelsea for further treatment.
Landlord’s Verdict:
Will be a huge blow for Huddersfield, who are in danger of losing some of that momentum we mentioned earlier.
A loss to Leicester City this weekend would be damaging ahead of a difficult run of games against Burnley and Tottenham.
