The Chelsea fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see some signings announced at Stamford Bridge as manager Antonio Conte looks to build a side capable of taking on the Champions League in the new season.
The former Juventus manager, having claimed the Premier League title in his first season at the helm in west London, has emphasised his desire to succeed with this Chelsea team on the continent, but in order to do that there needs to be a few canny additions.
With that in mind, according to reports from RTL (via Metro), Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is in London to finalise his move to join Conte’s side.
The Frenchman played a key role in helping the Ligue 1 side to their first league title in 17 years last season, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, experience which could be vital to the Blues next season.
However, Bakayoko’s arrival is likely to see Serbian international Nemanja Matic depart to rejoin Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
While Matic has been outstanding for Chelsea since being brought back to the club by the now Red Devils boss, it seems to be a transition which is going down well with Blues fans…
