Mourinho needs to keep tabs on these two RB Leipzig players for Man Utd

Manchester United sacked Louis van Gaal days after he won the Red Devils the FA Cup, and appointed Jose Mourinho to try and restore former glories at Old Trafford.

It hasn’t quite panned out as planned at the moment, and the United supporting punters here in the Tavern are not happy.

United sit in 6th place in the Premier League table, eight points off the leaders, Liverpool.

Whilst Klopp’s Reds have been entertaining and exciting, Mourinho’s United have disappointed a lot of people so far with lacklustre displays and apparent disharmony.

Perhaps it is time that the experience Portuguese manager takes a look at the story taking Germany football by storm.

RB Leipzig were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first ever time at the back end of last season but they aren’t there to messed around with.

Quite the contrary in fact as the Bulls sit in second place, behind the reigning Champions Bayern Munich on goal difference.

Both sides are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga and face each other in December, but the guys at the Transfer Tavern think Mourinho might’ve scouted and targeted a couple of their star players by then.

Here are the TWO we think he might pay particular attention to…..

Timo Werner

The German striker is one of the most talked about hot prospects in the Bundesliga currently.

He played for his home town for three seasons as he featured for Stuttgart between 2013-16.

Whilst at Die Schwaben he netted 13 goals in 95 Bundesliga appearances.

However, since he transferred to RB Leipzig this season following Stuttgart’s relegation, the striker has already netted five times in just ten Bundesliga matches.

Werner is blessed with gallons of pace which is something United dreadfully lack in the attacking positions.

Ibrahimovic has just ended his goal drought but apart from Marcus Rashford, the Red Devils are really struggling to stretch teams and the 20-year-old would be a perfect signing.

Bernardo

old-traffordd

Whilst United’s attacking forces have often floundered this season, defensively they’ve generally been rather sound.

However, on a couple of occasions, they have been found wanting like in their Manchester Derby defeat as well as their heavy away defeats at Watford and Chelsea respectively.

Their defensive fragilities cannot be pinpointed or blamed on one individual, but rather, as a collective, sometimes they just haven’t been good enough.

With Antonio Valencia out injured for a month or two, and Matteo Darmian an inadequate replacement, the punters feel like RB Leipzig’s Brazilian right-back Bernardo is one to plug the gap for United.

The 21-year-old is having a fine season in Germany and according to Whoscored.com, he’s ranked fourth amongst the whole squad for the pass success rate with 77.3% finding a team mate.

United could really do with some attacking flair too and naturally, considering his nationality, Bernardo would not only bring some defensive resilience and rearguard, he would also offer some more creativity to a team that have been lacking goals recently.

Mourinho could do a lot worse than scouting these two.
