Liverpool: Fans react to Nathaniel Clyne’s move to Crystal Palace

Former Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has confirmed his return to Crystal Palace on a short-term deal.

The 29-year-old had been a free agent after Jurgen Klopp’s side decided to release him at the end of the 2019/20 campaign following a miserable run of injuries that saw his time on the pitch significantly reduced.

Clyne was originally purchased by Brendan Rodgers a few months before the current Leicester manager lost his job at Anfield. The right-back only made 103 appearances in five years, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

Unfortunately for him, Trent Alexander-Arnold raced through from the academy ranks in his absence and ultimately made the right-back berth his own.

Having missed a total of 92 games due to serious back and knee injuries for Liverpool, Clyne’s career might not be over just yet, with the Eagles’ official website confirming yesterday evening that he had sealed his return to the first club of his professional career.

Taking his career into consideration as a whole, some Liverpool supporters were moved by the news and looked back on what might have been for Clyne at Anfield.
