Celtic: Neil Lennon provides update on Albian Ajeti’s fitness before Old Firm clash

Albian Ajeti

It has been a difficult period for Celtic over the international break as they have seen various players within their squad being forced to isolate due to recent events.

They also had some injuries, including one to forward Albian Ajeti. The summer signing limped off against Hibernian in late September and Neil Lennon has provided an update on his availability.

Will Albian Ajeti be able to play for Celtic this weekend?

The Hoops face Old Firm rivals Rangers tomorrow and, ahead of the match, journalist Ronnie Charters has provided an update on the Swiss forward as he tweeted that Lennon has confirmed Ajeti is fit, having trained in the last couple of days.

How crucial is Albian Ajeti to Celtic?

This is a huge boost for Celtic ahead of the derby. In the Premiership this season, Ajeti is the third top scorer, and has the most goals in the league for the Hoops so far.

Can Ajeti be the hero in the Old Firm derby?

No

He has featured six times in the league and scored five goals whilst picking up one assist, per Transfermarkt, quickly becoming a vital asset for Lennon’s squad since his summer loan move from West Ham. It is all the more welcome as Odsonne Edouard is fighting to be fit for the match following his positive Covid test over the international break.

Therefore, Celtic are relying on Ajeti more than ever as they seek the win which would put them above current leaders Rangers in the Premiership table. Hopefully he can shake off his recent injury concerns and make an impact in his first Old Firm derby tomorrow.

Celtic fans, how big a boost would Ajeti’s return be if he is fit for tomorrow? Comment below with your views!
