Yesterday saw the conclusion of the Premier League season in the Football Transfer Tavern with Arsenal claiming fourth spot and Champions League football thanks a 1-0 victory away at Newcastle United while Tottenham fans have to make do with Europa League once again.
Spurs managed to finish their season with another win due to a wonderful strike by star man Gareth Bale, his 31st of the season, and without the Champions League football he so craves there has been talk that he could depart White Hart Lane this summer.
However Spurs fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left relieved today with the London Evening Standard reporting that Bale has committed his future to the club will sign a new £130,000-a-week contract to remain at White Hart Lane until at least the end of next season.
The 23-year-old Welshman has been in outstanding form for Andre Villas-Boas’ side this campaign and unsurprisingly he is the target of many of Europe’s top clubs this summer but he is not leaving despite Tottenham’s failure to qualify for the major European competition.
Although Bale is set to stay for the short-term it is still thought that a massive bid of around £50 million could still secure his services in 2014.
