In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, Daniel Pinder, who is the editor-in-chief at Get German Football News, believes Newcastle United is the club that Jetro Willems has his heart set on joining this summer.

Willems had originally signed on a season-long loan with Newcastle last campaign until a season-ending knee injury forced the deal to be cut short and he returned to Eintracht Frankfurt where he has rarely featured.

It was reported that Newcastle were looking to re-sign the Dutch full-back in January, however nothing came about and Steve Bruce made the one signing with Joe Willock arriving from Arsenal until the end of the season.

Speaking on what the future holds for Willems, who has been interacting with Toon players and fans on Twitter this year, and why Newcastle could prove to be the only option he wants to explore, Pinder told The Transfer Tavern:

"I think Newcastle is where he wants to be and I've seen him like tweets from Newcastle fans on social media about a return. He hasn't really played for Eintracht Frankfurt this season as he's down the pecking order behind the likes of Kostic and Erik Durm.

"Obviously, his contract is up in the summer as well so yeah, I think Newcastle will be the club for him."

Willems impressed during his short spell on Tyneside having good link-up play with talisman Allan Saint-Maximin, as well as scoring goals against Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Dutch international is out of contract in the summer, therefore it could be a low-risk move for Newcastle to make, especially if funds are going to be tight once again under Mike Ashley.
