The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Pako Ayestaran, who took the role of Liverpool assistant manager under Rafa Benitez from 2004-2007. Ayestaran has claimed that Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard would make a brilliant manager given his “personal and professional qualities.” The former Liverpool coach made the comments in an interview for the Liverpool website.
“If he gets the best from this learning period, I am sure he can become a good manager in the future.”

Gerrard took up his first coaching at the start of the season with the Liverpool’s U18 side and has taken like a duck to water so far. Gerrard’s side was unlucky to be knocked out of the UEFA Youth League against a strong Manchester City team on penalties earlier in the month in the last eight of the competition. The Liverpool fans propping our bar up will be hoping that one day their academy graduate turned club legend can one day take up the managerial hot seat at Anfield one day.
Gerrard made over 700 appearances for the club and has gone down as one of the club’s two best ever players alongside Kenny Dalglish. The fans will be hoping Gerrard can do what Dalglish has also done and win some silverware as a coach at Anfield. Whatever happens with Stevie G, the fans will no doubt get behind their man as they did so many times when he was a player.
