Norwich City fans flocked to Twitter to let Ben Godfrey know how much he deserves his call-up to the England under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifiers.
The call-up to manager Aidy Boothroyd’s squad is the first for Godfrey, who is also joined by the likes of Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell.
The 21-year-old defender has played every minute of all four Premier League fixtures this season, with the Norfolk side yet to keep a clean sheet in the competition (via Transfermarkt).
Meanwhile, Cantwell has enjoyed a storming start to life in the top-flight, scoring one goal and assisting a further two in his first four Premier League games.
Fans were very supportive of their young centre-half, letting him know how much he deserves his opportunity in Boothroyd’s England set-up.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Carrow Road faithful after Godfrey’s first call-up to the England under-21 squad:
Go do us proud Ben, you’ve more than earned your place
