One in and one out for Manchester United?

rooney.jpgIt was an unprecedented day in the Football Transfer Tavern yesterday as Manchester United felt the true loss of leader, legend and manager Sir Alex Ferguson after a glorious 27 years in charge. In less than 24 hours United fans have gone from Ferguson to their new expected boss David Moyes who will be announced as the new man at the helm very soon in what has been the biggest upheaval at Old Trafford in decades.

Now United fans have woken up to a massive headline on Mail Online that star striker Wayne Rooney has asked to leave Old Trafford and put in a transfer request two weeks ago as he seeks a fresh start. The Red Devils are looking to replace the England international by making a sensational return swoop for former club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Soon-to-depart chief executive David Gill has been in Madrid meeting with super agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Ronaldo, and the Mail insists that United are hopefully of thrashing out a deal to bring back the world class player they sold to Real Madrid in 2009.

With Rooney set to be reunited with his first manager Moyes, who he has bad previous history with, he could be set to move on and the Daily Mirror reports today that Premier League rivals Chelsea are interested in a £30 million shock move. Just yesterday we reported that Bayern Munich were interested and Paris Saint-Germain are close admirers so the 27-year-old will not be short of suitors if United decide to sell.

Is Ronaldo part of David Moyes’ United revolution? Where will Rooney end up? Let us know your thoughts below.
