The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were dancing on the pool tables yesterday when Alexandre Lacazette was confirmed as their latest new signing.
The prolific Lyon striker has finally become the club’s most expensive signing after a £52m bid was expected by the Ligue 1 side, much to the delight of the Gooners propping up our bar.
The fee shatters the previous club record in which the Gunners paid Real Madrid £42.5m for Mesut Ozil in 2013.
Lacazette has completed his medical and is expected to link up with his new teammates by the end of the week and Arsenal supporters are drooling at the possibility of the Frenchman linking up with the aforementioned Ozil.
With just one year to run on his current deal, the German’s future is uncertain. Yet Arsene Wenger has stressed his desire to keep hold of his playmaker, as he looks to mount a title challenge next year.
The Gooners down here at the Transfer Tavern are also praying Ozil remains at The Emirates. We’re here to explain why.
Take a look at the TWO reasons why the Ozil and Lacazette partnership should have Arsenal fans dreaming of the title…
FINALLY SOME PACE

We all know Mesut Ozil’s incredible ability to see a pass. The German is sometimes too quick for his teammates in the fact that he in envisions opportunities before they even arise.
Arsenal have lacked speed down the middle with Giroud ahead of Ozil for so many years, but with Lacazette’s pace and power to get in behind, the two can be a formidable team in the Premier League.
IT TAKES TWO

For all the chances Mesut Ozil creates, the German’s assist record is arguably slightly underwhelming. Last season’s 1-0 win over Sunderland saw Ozil set a record by creating 13 chances in a single game.
Just imagine how many more assists the wizard could achieve if he had a prolific goal scorer ahead of him. Well, Gooners, now he does – Lacazette was prolific last season, netting 37 times in 45 games for Lyon.
