Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a fee with Southampton for Saints midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after weeks of negotiation, reports say.
At first Spurs fell short of Southampton’s £25m asking price for the 33-cap Denmark international, who has made it clear he will not sign a new deal at St Mary’s.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, as relayed by Ricky Sacks, both clubs have agreed a transfer fee that is significantly less than what Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were initially looking for, with the figure amounting to £15m, although this could potentially rise to £19m.
It has previously been reported that the player was Mourinho’s top transfer target this summer.
The Danish midfielder will undergo a medical at the beginning of next week, meaning Hojbjerg should become Mourinho’s first summer recruit in the coming days, signing a five-year deal.
Everton also reportedly had a bid accepted, but the 25-year-old has set his sights on a move to north London.

Hojbjerg, who turned 25 earlier this week, has scored five goals in over a hundred appearances for the Saints in all competitions after arriving from Schalke in 2016 and started the 2019-20 campaign as club captain.
However, the Dane was stripped of the captaincy after he told Ralph Hasenhuttl he had no intention of extending his contract, and has seemed destined to leave the South Coast ever since.
Southampton are confident their newfound relationship with the Lilywhites can pave the way for Kyle Walker-Peters to head in the opposite direction.
Spurs could be ready for a reshuffle upon his arrival, as Harry Winks could be in line for a shock exit as his future at his boyhood club is in doubt.
Hojbjerg is a top-class player who is a strong threat in the air, a hard-working midfielder with great concentration on-and-off the ball, and someone who doesn’t shy away from a tackle or two, which is exactly the type of player Mourinho needs to challenge for trophies next season.
