Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are licking their wounds over not trying harder to capture the signature of these two players. With a battle for Champions League qualification on, the punters propping up our bar were hoping for more. 

Mauricio Pochettino has made a point of not signing any players in the January window up to date but with the Premier League top six strengthening all the time, Spurs will feel left behind if they don’t start to invest sooner rather than later. Indeed, our bar staff remember when the Premier League used to be a two or at a maximum three-horse race, and Spurs in recent campaigns have been part of that race. Until this year, where they seem to not be having the best of seasons in comparison, so more additions would have been nice.

Our local Spurs fans in the bar are discussing two of the signings Pochettino and Levy should have clubbed together and tried harder to sign in January. So, with that said, the landlord takes a closer look at what the White Hart Lane team will be missing out on…

Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester City midfield enforcer is one of the Premier League’s top tacklers, and in a similar mould to former fan favourite N’Golo Kante. He has the ability to break up play with a high rate of interceptions, furthermore, Ndidi can spot a simple pass to set up an attack.

Our regulars feel that this is missing in the Pochettino’s team and a centre of the park general like this could transform Spurs’ season.

Michy Batshuayi

With a potential swap deal involving Batshuayi and Tottenham flop Fernando Llorente mooted fairly late on in the window, perhaps Spurs should have tried harder to get the Belgian aboard. Though tempting anyone to come and back up Harry Kane might be difficult, the notion of Pochettino making a serious play to convince the former Marseille man to move ever so slightly north is certainly an interesting one.

He’d have been the best signing of the window, had he moved to Spurs.
