With the Premier League season coming around again, the Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their side can make the most of the pressure they’ve applied on the league in the last couple of seasons and finally bring home the title.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a wonderful squad whilst he has been at Tottenham and the club’s move to Wembley may just coincide with a title being won by the Argentine manager.

It is no doubt that Spurs have the players to do so with the club managing to hang on to the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen during this the transfer window and there are many in the Tavern who hope that Spurs can bring a title home before these players feel it is time to move on to bigger things should the trophies not come.

That is the reason why this season is vital for Spurs as a football club and a positive start against a newly promoted Newcastle United is so important for the Lilywhites’ campaign this season. Furthermore, it is important that Pochettino makes the right selections and the Spurs fans in the Tavern have been discussing some problems Pochettino must overcome when selecting his side.

Managing Mousa Dembele

With Dembele reportedly playing through the pain barrier at the back end of last season, our landlord has suggested that although he is a vital cog in the Spurs team – Dembele must be managed by the Spurs hierarchy and not risked in certain games.

This will be on Pochettino’s mind and he must assess whether or not Dembele is needed for the full duration against Newcastle, otherwise he may face losing one of his key players for a large chunk of the season.

Replacing Kyle Walker

Whilst Kieran Trippier is that most natural replacement to Kyle Walker, it is vital that the ex-Burnley man can match what Walker brought to the team last season in a defensive way as well as an offensive way.

Of course, Trippier has not done anything wrong during his time at Spurs and our landlord believes he deserves his chance in the first team but the Tottenham fans feel that if Trippier doesn’t take his chance instantly, then Pochettino may be under pressure following him allowing the move of Kyle Walker to title rivals, Manchester City.
