Pochettino desperately needs these 2 things from Levy before the transfer window closes

Share

Our Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Daniel Levy can come up trumps this January. Indeed, after seeing their hopes of a title tilt fade away fairly early on, the punters propping up our bar are praying enough is done to ensure a top four finish.

Traditionally under the Argentine, Spurs don’t tend to buy in the winter window. However, with the team sitting outside the Champions League places and many of the top six strengthening this window, our regulars feel that Mauricio Pochettino needs to dip his hand into the market for fear of missing out on a top-four spot.

With the new White Hart Lane due to be home to Spurs next season after renting Wembley for the season, it would be a financial error if Levy doesn’t try everything he can to achieve a top-four finish.

Thinking along those lines is our chief barman, who thinks that Levy needs to deliver two things to Pochettino ASAP, and our landlord is on hand to take a closer look at exactly what they need before next Wednesday’s deadline…

A Scoring Backup Striker

Tottenham have all but relied on Harry Kane over the past few seasons to fire them to success. Still, one of the reasons they have fallen short, according to our punters is exactly that; Spurs only have Kane.

In the summer, they brought in Fernando Llorente to help Kane but that hasn’t exactly worked out as planned. Kane is the number one striker and unless a big injury or a massive transfer fee is offered, it’s likely to stay like that for the foreseeable future.

What Spurs need is a player, with quality, who can come on and impact or change the game.

An Attacking Winger

Spurs defensively are sound and shouldn’t need any strengthening in that area. However, if they got a quality winger that could give them a different avenue of playing, someone like Wilfried Zaha, that could really get the crown up on their feet.

Many of the barmen are impressed with the job Pochettino has done over his years at Spurs but, of note, can’t remember an out and out winger tearing the pitch up on a regular basis and this could be a great plan B.
