Spurs have had a mixed track record of bringing in players from the continent of Africa.

From the heights of Wanyama to the lows of Pienaar, it’s certainly been mixed.

There is no doubt of the talent the continent of Africa currently has, with many in the Premier League already.

Spurs find themselves fifth in the Premier League on 27 points, but like many of their punters know an injury or two to their side could derail their season quite easily.

With the January window just around the corner, it’s possible that Pochettino may look to make some minor improvements.

With that, our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern takes a look at TWO African midfielders that Tottenham should look to sign in January….

MARIO LEMINA

The Gabonese midfielder has been a revelation in the Italy with the Champions Juventus – since signing on-loan from Marseille.

The 23-year-old central midfielder has been a hit in Turin since his arrival initially on-loan before the club made his deal permanent last summer.

So it may be difficult for Tottenham to convince Juventus to let him go, but with his ability and likeness to one Paul Pogba, it could be a great match as Spurs look to be successful both domestically and in the Europa League.

THOMAS PARTEY

The Ghanaian midfielder is currently with Spanish side Atletico Madrid, but spent time away on-loan and mostly finds himself featuring off the bench.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian international could make a great impact at the Lane with the lack of depth in the midfield.

Partey could give Poch something to think about and should for sure try and lure him away from Madrid this January.
