Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino says he will give youth players an opportunity to impress as the club begin pre-season training this week.

The North Londoners improved on their third place finish in 2016 to claim second place last season and now Pochettino will be eyeing the league title.

Spurs are due to fly out to the States on July 19 and the Argentine is keen to blood his youngsters before making the trip to face Paris Saint Germain, Roma and Manchester City later this month.

First-team opportunities for players in the Spurs’ youth set-up have come at a premium. With only Harry Winks earning a substantial amount of game time.

The 21 year-old featured 21 times in the Premier League last season and produced one goal to his name.

Josh Onomah

The attacking midfielder was part of the England side that beat Venezuela 1-0 in the under-20 World Cup final in South Korea on 11 June.

Onomah is part of a generation of youngsters who Pochettino has never loaned out because he would prefer to coach them himself rather than let other managers coach them.

The skillful 20 year-old has made 13 Premier League appearance, but is yet to start a game for the North Londoners.

Kyle Walker-Peters

With his namesake Kyle Walker being tipped for a move to Manchester City, Kyle Walker-Peters may just move one place up in the right-back pecking order.

Walker-Peters is yet to feature for Spurs in the Premier League. However, the England under-20 and World Cup winner will be integrated into the Spurs first-team this summer and Pochettino will be observing his first-team credentials.
