Porto Delaying Over …€15M

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com two of the special ones former clubs are battling it out over the man dubbed the ‘new Mourinho’. Andre Villas-Boas has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs this summer after a record breaking season at the helm of FC Porto.

The Guardian has reported that in Portugal it is understood that the 33 year old ‘has accepted Chelsea offer’.

The young tactician won the treble with Porto last season, in the process becoming the youngest coach to win a major European honour, on top of the sides domestic double.

Boas is a curious exception in the world of football management, a coach without any previous playing experience. Gaining his UEFA C coaching badge as a minor at the age of 17 in Scotland. He was appointed onto Porto’s opposition observation department by then manager Mourinho, it was Boas’s detailed dossiers on the opposition which provided the special one’s teams at Porto and Chelsea with such a methodical analysis on their opponents weaknesses.

Mourinho’s protegé has been linked with Inter Milan’s vacant managers position after Leonardo’s departure to PSG. Reports on Goal.com have surfaced which show technical director Marco Branca buffeting these rumours.

He told ANSA that

“Andres Villas-Boas will not be the coach of Inter, and not just because of the buyout clause that would cost £13.3 million (€15m) which ties him to Porto,” .

According to BBC.co.uk, Porto have released a statement reading

“So far this club has not received any communication that this clause has been exercised, nor of the agreement of the coach that is desired,”.

Deespite this, Chelsea seem confident of landing their man, bringing him back to Stamford Bridge where he was such a vital cog in Mourinho’s well oiled juggernaut, helping the special one lead the Blues to their first domestic title in 50 years.

Although Mourinho’s love affair with Chelsea seems to have died out for the time being at least, Mourinho mark II is on his way.
