Potential consequences: A Chelsea move for Christian Pulisic

It’s fair to say that Chelsea were not deemed as title challengers at the start of the season but Maurizio Sarri has quickly turned that opinion on it’s head.

In what has been a scintillating start to the campaign, where Chelsea remain unbeaten in the Premier League, it’s a surprise to see they’re not settling for that and want more in January to make them even better.

The Sun reported last week that Chelsea, among other top English sides, are planning an audacious January move for Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.

It would be a move that inevitably sees change at the front end of Chelsea’s team but only for the better, seeing how good a talent Christian Pulisic is proving to be.

Despite the brilliance of Jadon Sancho who has been playing in his place during recent Bundesliga games, Pulisic has still recorded three goals and four assists this season, showing that although the focus is firmly on the Englishman, the 20-year-old is still an unbelievable talent as well.

What could this bid mean for Chelsea…

Willian out

The Brazilian has been terrific in spells during his stay with Chelsea but this season, after spurning a number of good chances, he could expect to be the man who Christian Pulisic comes into replace. Indeed, a player of his calibre certainly won’t want to do that, so it’s hard to see how the Blues keep both the American and Willian.

Chelsea’s title bid suddenly becomes a lot stronger

Many continue to write Chelsea off the Premier League title because of the immense competition they face from reigning champions Manchester City to win it.

At this stage, there still remains a gulf in class when looking at squad depth but the signing of Christian Pulisic alone could be a major turning point in an exciting title race.
