Premier League clubs eye January move for Inter star Aleksandar Stankovic

Premier League clubs are continuing to monitor emerging talent across Europe as they assess potential reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

Young midfielders capable of making an impact at the highest level remain in high demand, particularly those who have already demonstrated their quality in major European competitions.

One player attracting attention is Inter Milan midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, who could face an important decision over his future after struggling to secure regular first-team football in Italy.

Several English clubs are reportedly considering a move for the highly rated Serbian international.

Premier League Clubs Interested in Aleksandar Stankovic

According to reports in Spain from AS, a number of unnamed Premier League clubs are preparing an offer worth around €40m for Stankovic, who returned to Inter after impressing during his spell with Club Brugge.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder developed his reputation in Belgium, where his performances attracted interest from several leading sides. Inter subsequently brought him back to Milan, hoping he could establish himself in their first-team plans.

However, opportunities have been limited since his return to Italy. Stankovic has struggled to earn regular minutes under head coach Cristian Chivu, raising questions about how much playing time he will receive during the remainder of the campaign.

That situation could offer Premier League clubs an opportunity to test Inter’s resolve. A sizeable offer would give the Italian club a decision to make over whether to retain the youngster or consider allowing him to leave.

Stankovic is not understood to be pushing for an immediate departure, however, and his long-term ambition remains to establish himself at Inter. The midfielder is contracted to the Italian side until 2031, meaning they are under no immediate pressure to sell.

January Transfer Decision Could Prove Crucial

A move to England would offer Stankovic the possibility of greater first-team involvement, although any transfer would depend on Inter’s willingness to negotiate and the player’s own preferences.

His performances at Club Brugge demonstrated his ability to handle the demands of senior football, while his potential and experience at international level make him an appealing option for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield.

The reported €40m valuation would represent a significant investment, particularly for a player still establishing himself at the highest level. Nevertheless, Premier League sides may view Stankovic as a long-term prospect capable of developing into an important first-team player.

With the January window approaching, his situation at Inter is likely to attract further attention. Whether any of the interested English clubs formalise their interest remains to be seen, but a lack of regular minutes could make Stankovic one to watch in the coming months.
