Premier League clubs are beginning to cast their eyes towards Sevilla as Lucien Agoumé’s impressive start to the season continues to attract attention.
The midfielder has emerged as an increasingly important figure for the Spanish side, helping them make a much stronger start to the 2026/27 campaign after a difficult previous season.
Agoumé’s development has been particularly noticeable in a deeper midfield role, where he has become a key part of Luis García Plaza’s side.
His form has now reportedly put several English clubs on alert ahead of the January transfer window.
Premier League Clubs Monitoring Lucien Agoumé
According to AS, Agoumé is attracting growing interest from Premier League clubs after establishing himself as one of Sevilla’s most important players.
The 24-year-old has started all seven of Sevilla’s La Liga matches this season and has remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes in each of them. His performances have helped Sevilla collect four wins alongside one draw and two defeats, putting them in a much healthier position than many would have expected.
His improvement has also earned praise from teammate Youssouf Fofana, who highlighted the midfielder’s growing influence both on and off the pitch.
“It’s a magnificent midfielder and it’s a pleasure to see how he has become a leader in the dressing room,” Fofana said, per AS.
That emergence could prove costly for Sevilla. Agoumé has a contract until June 2028, but his current deal contains a €40m release clause, a figure that could be within reach of a number of Premier League clubs.
Sevilla already own 90 per cent of the player’s economic rights after gradually increasing their stake following his arrival from Inter. The Italian club retain a percentage of any future sale, meaning there is also an incentive for them to monitor developments.
Agoumé had opportunities to leave during the summer, including interest from Saudi Arabia, but opted to remain in Spain. His decision now looks increasingly justified as his performances have turned him into one of Sevilla’s standout players.
With Premier League scouts reportedly keeping a close eye on him, Sevilla could face a difficult decision in the coming months. They could attempt to extend his contract and remove the current release clause, or potentially cash in if an English club is prepared to meet it.
For now, Agoumé remains firmly at the centre of Sevilla’s plans, but his form has ensured that his future will be one to watch when the January window opens.
