Celtic managed to secure a vital three points yesterday against Dundee at Celtic Park, which has piled the pressure back on Rangers.
The Hoops will be sitting pretty at the top of the tree on Christmas, with a game in hand over title rivals Rangers and Aberdeen. And, it appears as if Brendan Rodgers is eyeing possible January additions, as according to The Sunday post, Celtic are interested in Jermain Defoe, while Andy Carroll is another option.
Indeed, Celtic are interested in securing the likes of Jermain Defoe and Andy Carroll.
Interestingly, the Hoops had a look at Defoe in the summer, at which point he was being heavily linked with Rangers, but decided against pursuing their interest.
But, the experienced forward has been struggling for minutes at the Vitality Stadium in the current campaign, so a January transfer window move seems like the right idea at this stage in his career.
Obviously, Leigh Griffith’s personal issues has left Celtic looking thin in attacking areas, as well as Rodgers’ failure to replace Moussa Dembele, who departed back in the summer transfer window.
Jermain Defoe, who is valued at £1.8 million (by Transfermarkt), still has plenty of life left in him, so he could do a good job of supporting Odsonne Edouard at the pinnacle of the attack.
Indeed, Andy Carroll may not be able to ensure as many goals as Defoe, but there’s no doubt that he could be a real danger from set-pieces and could thrive in the Scottish Premiership.
