‘Get rid’, ‘I agree’ – Southampton fans want Josh Sims to replace £10.8m-rated flop next season

The Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern would all love to see their young winger who can be deployed on both sides, namely Josh Sims, be thrown more of a chance in the senior squad next season. According to talkSAINTS on Twitter, both Nice and Rennes have identified the Saints’ Sofiane Boufal as a transfer target this summer and the fans are more than happy to let him go in order to give Sims a break in the first-team.

Josh Sims is a name that most Southampton fans will be familiar with, even if the rest of the Premier League may not be. The 21-year-old winger, who came through the club’s academy after swapping Portsmouth’s U18s for Southampton’s U18s in 2012, was promoted to the Saints’ senior squad in January 2017 and has been touted as future first-team star, making six Premier League appearances this season.

The 21-year-old’s has all the talents needed in a Premier League winger. At such a young age he has the raw pace and ability to beat a man that would make any top coach stand up and watch, and under Mark Hughes he’ll be hoping he can make a lasting impression on the division. The fans won’t miss Boufal (valued at £10.8 million by Transfermarkt) too much if he does leave, as the Moroccan international’s nonchalant attitude has seen him fall down the pecking order at the club.
