Liverpool: Fans drool over latest Timo Werner transfer update as talks advance with RB Leipzig

Plenty of Liverpool fans were delighted with the update on the ongoing transfer saga with their club and RB Leipzig Timo Werner.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, he revealed on Twitter (via @NicoSchira) that the Reds are closing in on the Bundesliga hitman and are in advanced talks to bring the Germany international to Anfield. Indeed, Werner has a clause in his contract that can be triggered at around £50m, which could prompt other clubs to make a move, as per the Liverpool Echo, with Schira also claiming the club are ready to trigger the €58m (£48.3m) clause.

Werner, 23, is the league’s second-highest scorer with 20 goals in 22 appearances for Die Roten Bullen and was recently praised by Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich, saying that his attacking threat should not be sniffed at, as reported by Goal. Unsurprisingly, supporters were overjoyed with the update and made their feelings clear on social media. In fact, one fan described the move as a “steal” due to his release clause, while another simply described the move as “boss”.
