Liverpool: Fans stunned by Harvey Elliott’s Carabao Cup display vs Aston Villa

Loads of Liverpool fans were blown away by the performance of Harvey Elliott on Tuesday night as Neil Critchley’s young side were soundly beaten by Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
It’s not every day you see a team with an average age of 19 playing in a cup quarter-final, but with Liverpool’s entire first-team away for the Club World Cup, the youngsters were handed their opportunity on Tuesday night.
Dean Smith’s side made light work of the young Reds despite some positive play from the visitors at Villa Park, as a first-half brace from Jonathan Kodjia guided the home side into the semi-final.
Plenty of the Liverpool youngsters did themselves proud, but none more so than 16 year-old Elliott, who was clearly the standout player in Critchley’s side.
Per Sofascore, the former Fulham prodigy scored the highest match rating of any Liverpool player, completing five key passes.

Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott are different quality. Two best players on the pitch.

16-year-old Harvey Elliott playing without fear, instead instilling it into a former Premier League full-back in Neil Taylor. Beaten him time and time again and supplied chances aplenty. Utterly fantastic.

Choosing to focus on the positive; Welsh international Neil Taylor hasn’t gotten a single second of breathing whilst marking 16-year-old Harvey Elliott. This kid is so, so good. Different class.
