The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are all sat with head in hands following the news that they have been accused of ‘tapping-up’ one of their transfer targets.
Reports from the Sun have revealed that Premier League club West Ham are planning on renewing their interest in William Carvalho in January.
This news comes despite the fact that the Hammers could be soon involved in a courtroom battle over claims that the club was ‘tapping-up’ the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
The Portuguese club have claimed that there was never an official bid submitted by West Ham despite emails appearing to show an offer of £22.85 million offer plus add-ons for the 25-year-old.
An insider from the London club has told the Sun:
“There’s a problem between the clubs at the moment but never say never. The board and manager know a player when they see one.
“The player himself would obviously prefer to be here in the Premier League than over there. So, watch for developments.”
Slaven Bilic’s side have had a poor start to the 2017/18 campaign, losing all three of their opening games and sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table.
The Hammers return to action this weekend against the newly promoted Huddersfield.

The last thing West Ham need right now is to be involved in a court row over a player they don’t even own.
Carvalho would undoubtedly make a great addition to their side and provide necessary defensive cover but our landlord thinks they should calm their interest for now.
