There is an interesting debate going on in the Transfer Tavern of late asking, could West Ham get relegated?
Of course, our landlord is the instigator of this controversial query but with the Hammers sitting 5 points above the relegation zone and 4 of their last 8 games coming against some of the Premier League’s top 7, it is easy to see where he is coming from especially considering their recent poor form.
Our resident Irons in the Tavern have dismissed our landlord’s comments but they cut frustrated figures whilst enjoying their pints this season, some fans citing the inconsistency of their team being the reason for their low league position.
Many Hammers in the Tavern have also blamed the move to the London Stadium as the reason for their poor showing this season but simply put, there have been some players in the West Ham squad who simply have not been pulling their weight this season.
Our landlord has also noticed this and he has been studying West Ham’s recent fixtures in major detail in order to single out players he believes are letting boss, Slaven Bilic and the West Ham fans down.
Here are TWO of his findings…
Darren Randolph

With the Hammers having the joint third worst defence this season, Irons in the Tavern are demanding more from Randolph, especially when it comes to organising his defence.
Our landlord agrees and feels that if the Irish goalkeeper can step his game for the back end of the season, the Hammers will be nowhere near the dogfight that is a relegation battle.
Mark Noble

There is no doubt in our landlord’s mind that Noble has not stepped up as a captain this season and in order to turn their run of form around, the Hammers need their captain to step up on the pitch.
As much as they love him, the West Ham fans in the Tavern agree and are crying out for Noble to take the end of the season by the scruff of the neck and lead their side away from danger.
