Southampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping more fresh faces will come through the door at St Mary’s as they prepare for the up and coming Premier League season under new boss Claude Puel.
According to the Daily Star, Southampton are lining up a £6m move for Anderlecht midfielder Steven Defour.
Punters assumed Saints’ £13m move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich would be their replacement for Victor Wanyama, who moved to Tottenham.
But now they are looking to add another midfielder to their ranks in the shape of Defour, who is desperate to leave the Belgian giants after being on the receiving end of constant abuse from Anderlecht fans, following his previous spell at arch-rivals Standard Liege.
Saints are looking to reinvest money into their first team after losing Wanyama, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle already this summer.
