There is an air of excitement in the West Brom corner of the Transfer Tavern as they look firmly placed within the middle of the Premier League table.

Tony Pulis’ men take on West Ham this weekend and with the Hammers sitting just under the Baggies in ninth position, Pulis and his men know that a win here could further the gap between his side and the Hammers.

Though our landlord believes a top six finish is very unrealistic, the Premier League can be very surprising and Baggies’ fans are backing Tony Pulis due to his pedigree as a Premier League manager.

Although, this should not be noted as the main reason to why West Brom are performing so well – a sturdy defence paired with strong attacking performances mainly led by Salomon Rondon has definitely made the west Midlands side a team to watch this season, with many punters in the Transfer Tavern keeping their eye over them for the rest of it.

With all that said, the Baggies have also been able to use mostly the same players week in, week out and again, that consistency has shown in their performances and their league position.

Nevertheless, rotation can be key in the run in and in order to maintain their momentum so our landlord has outlined these two players who should start for the Baggies this Saturday…

Jonny Evans

Evans has been recently side-lined with a calf injury but our landlord predicts him to be fit to face West Ham and believes it is a no-brainer for Pulis to put his best centre back into the mix against the Hammers.

Evans had struck up a strong partnership with fellow Northern Irishman, Gareth McAuley, before his unfortunate injury and although Craig Dawson has done no wrong in replacing the former Man Utd man, the resident Baggies’ fans in the Transfer Tavern are yearning for Evans to make his return which will see Dawson return to his regular place at full back.

Claudio Yacob

Stomach cramps struck down Yacob for last weekend’s clash with Stoke but there is no doubting his importance in protecting the West Brom defence when he plays.

It will be a hard decision for Pulis to play Yacob following his replacement, Jake Livermore, providing a strong performance in West Brom’s 1-0 win however Yacob simply must play against a West Ham side that oozes with attacking flair and quality.

Our landlord even believes Pulis could even change his formation in order to fit Livermore, Yacob and club captain, Darren Fletcher in a three man midfield on Saturday.
