The England fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing who should be England’s No.1 when they travel to Russia in the summer for the World Cup. They’ve also been slating Ray Parlour – who claimed that Joe Hart should be on the plane as England’s third choice ahead of Burnley’s Nick Pope, despite the number of mistakes made by Hart and the excellent form of Pope.

England fans at the moment aren’t looking forward to the World Cup too much. Gareth Southgate has a mammoth job on his hands with a number of positions still up in the air. The spot between the sticks has come in for a lot of debate, although there are still other questions being asked. Who will start at full-back? Will we go with a back three or a back four? Who’s wearing the captain’s armband? Who starts in central midfield? Hopefully, Southgate has a plan to iron out the creases before we travel, although a number of fans aren’t sure.
Last night provided another twist for the England team though, as Joe Hart went up against Jack Butland when West Ham hosted Stoke last night. Both ‘keepers made errors that eventually led to the ball ending up in the net, although you can defend Butland’s whilst Hart’s was dreadful. The costly errors have led to yet more debate over who the three shot-stoppers going to Russia will be and as Ray Parlour has come out and publicly stated he’d take Hart over Nick Pope, a number of fans have hit out at the Romford Pele for his choice.

It’s all irrelevant because lets face it we won’t be winning the whole tournament will we .

Everyone is trying to pick between Pickford and Butland for the number 1 shirt it’s pope for me. He’s never in the headlines for making mistakes so he must be doing something right. Also his team are pushing Arsenal for 6th while the rest are in a relegation Battle

100% NO. Experience of consistent failure is NOT good experience to bring to a squad… plus he is awful. Utterly awful!!! Not even prem quality anymore. People need to acknowledge present day facts, not decade old nostalgia

Needs to drop down a few leagues. Poor footballer. International games are usually decided on 1 goal. We'd be knocked out early on if he made his usual mistakes. Remember last tournament? And Rob green

Hart is a terrible keeper After the show i ask Parlour to watch a DVD of the Iceland game. Hart has experience of failing at a major tournaments.Take Pope he is the best
