Our Tottenham supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been enjoying life as a Spurs fan in recent weeks, with Pochettino’s side in red-hot form.
It’s fair to say it was a boozy day here in the Tavern on Sunday when Spurs dispatched League One side Millwall 6-0 in the FA Cup – though all banter between the opposing fans here in the pub was in good spirits.
One man who excelled during the match was young midfielder Harry Winks, who is really starting to develop and mature his game and is making a real impact on the Tottenham squad.
Though as our landlord quips, Winks faces a tough task of breaking into the starting XI at White Hart Lane on a regular basis, with Pochettino having so many class options at his disposal.
Whilst on this topic, the landlord found an article from ex-Chelsea player Tony Cascarino in the Times, whereby the former Republic of Ireland international claims that Spurs are lacking creativity going forward.
The 54-year-old feels that Mr Winks can be the perfect solution to this supposed problem at Spurs, with his ability to drive forward with the ball, making him an effective cog in Spurs’ midfield.
“Pochettino will look at those two (Dembele and Wanyama) and think not much will get past them, but I do think he can afford a luxury of a player like Winks in there,” Cascarino wrote in the Times.
“There are times when they don’t have enough ideas going forward and he can offer that penetration.”
Is Winks really the solution to to a ‘lack of creativity’ at Spurs? Our landlord has his reservations…
